href="http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/02/bulls-thomas-speaks---kind-of.html">From the Trib:

INDIANAPOLIS -- In his first comments since serving a one-game suspension for berating Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro over a lack of playing time, forward Tyrus Thomas told the Tribune he has "no regrets" over the incident.

Those two words might have represented the longest of Thomas' answers. Here's the transcript of the interview, conducted before Tuesday's game against the Pacers:

Tribune: Do you have any regrets over the incident?

Thomas: "No regrets."

Tribune: How do you move forward from it?

Thomas: "Ain't nothing to harp on. It's over with."

Tribune: Are you frustrated?

Thomas: "Nah. I'm just going to play. There's nothing to be frustrated about."

Tribune: Vinny has said he has a clean slate with you. Do you believe him?

Thomas: "If that's what he said, then that's what it is. It's over with. There's nothing to talk about. It's all good."

Tyrus Thomas is so immature and as I said before, the Bulls need to move him before his trade value hits an all-time low.

Meanwhile, Tyrus will be back in the Bulls rotation tonight according to KC Johnson as the Bulls take on the Indiana Pacers tonight at 6:00 PM on WCIU at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Pacers are a struggling team this season and Danny Granger is only shooting around 42% after an All-Star season last year with the Pacers. I think the Bulls take this one but who knows with this team. In the Bulls last 25 games, they are 9-2 against winning teams but only 6-8 against losing teams. This is a classic example of playing up to your competition and playing down to your competition.

Prediction:
Bulls 97
Pacers 91

Tyrus and JJ for Brendan Haywood?

From a poster at RealGM:

Latest info I got is that Brendan Haywood has been informed that he could be going to Chicago for Tyrus Thomas and James Johnson. This comes from a player my guy represents here in Europe and is close to Brendan.

Not sure how reliable this poster is but it would be a pretty solid trade if the Bulls could get it done. Haywood is an expiring contract that is almost average a double double in almost 33 MPG. Luol Deng has a nice game chipping in 25 points and 7 rebounds on 8-19 shooting. Derrick Rose didn't pick up many assists today but did score 24 points on 9-19 shooting. Derrick's jumper has been rather flat since the San Antonio game which leads me to believe that he is beginning to tire down kind of like he did before the All Star Break last year. Despite a flat jumper, Rose is still filling out the box score. Chris Richard who the Bulls signed to a 10 day contract to replace the injured Joakim Noah earlier in the week did a nice job tonight grabbing 7 rebounds and blocking 2 shots in 20 minutes of action. Kirk Hinrich did a nice job on Dwyane Wade holding him to 20 points on 33% shooting. Michael Beasley, who the Bulls were considering drafting with the #1 pick back in 2008 over Derrick Rose, had an abysmal game going 2-11 from the field and committing 4 turnovers. It's safe to say that the Bulls made the right choice choosing Rose over Beasley in that draft.

More news is coming out about the Tyrus suspension. According to reports, Tyrus screamed at Vinny Del Negro and used profanities towards him during a meeting about playing time. Note to Tyrus, if you want playing time get your head out of your ass and stop being a dumbass on the court. Tyrus is clearly not a team player and we need to ship his ass out ASAP.

The Bulls next game is Tuesday in Indiana against an average Pacers team that is very beatable. Danny Granger is not the same player that he was last year as he has battled with injuries and has shot around 41% from the field.

Here's Brad Miller leading a fastbreak and Rose finishing the fastbreak with a dunk tonight:

Heat @ Bulls 2/6/10 7:00 PM CSN/NBATV

I'll start off this thread by mentioning that Tyrus Thomas has been suspended by the Bulls for tonight for "conduct detrimental to the team" according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Tyrus Thomas is an average NBA player with the NBA IQ the size of a peanut. This guy is a childish diva that can't finish in front of the rim this season, he can't hit a jumpshot to save his life, and he has no basketball IQ!

Back to the game, with the news that Tyrus has been suspended, we lack serious depth in the frontcourt so I'm fully predicting a 4th straight loss.

Prediction:
Bulls 87
Heat 102

And a final FUCK YOU to Tyrus.

Bulls fail in the 4th quarter yet again, fall to Hawks

The Bulls lost yet again thanks to another poor 4th quarter. The Bulls were outscored 27-11 in the 4th. Josh Smith recorded his second career triple double with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists on 7-14 shooting. Jamal Crawford outscored the Bulls bench by himself 17-8.

This Bulls team clearly has to make a trade. They went 0-10 from three tonight and good a poor shooting effort out of Kirk Hinrich. There is no way GarPax should stay pat this trade deadline. Vinny is also probably on his way out as expected during the offseason. Once again an opposing coach made adjustments and Vinny made no adjustments and the Bulls lost because of it.

The Bulls are back home tomorrow night against the Miami Heat. The Heat have historically played us tough these past few seasons so it's going to be another tough game.

I'll leave you with this. Derrick Rose has 2 great plays tonight against the Hawks:

Chicago Bulls @ Atlanta Hawks 7:00 PM ESPN, CSN

The Bulls take on Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Jamal Crawford, Al Horford and the Atlanta Hawks tonight at Phillips Arena.

Projected starting lineups:
BULLS
PG Derrick Rose
SG Kirk Hinrich
SF Luol Deng
PF Taj Gibson
C Brad Miller

6th man: John Salmons

HAWKS
PG Mike Bibby
SG Joe Johnson
SF Marvin Williams
PF Josh Smith
C Al Horford

6th man: Jamal Crawford

Player to watch:
Derrick Rose
Derrick has had his best games of his NBA career against the Atlanta Hawks. Give Noah 2 weeks of rest (about 4 games) and bring him back healthier in the 2nd half. Sucks to lose him though for an extended period of time. Brad Miller needs to step up.

Meanwhile the Bulls are in Atlanta as they play the Hawks tomorrow night at 7:00 PM on ESPN and Comcast SportsNet. Luol Deng for the 2nd straight game started off the game hot before killing the Bulls in the 2nd half. This guy is just awful and will be a burden on this team until he's gone. This is the guy that the Bulls refused to trade for Pau Gasol. The Bulls need to get rid of this guy and his awful contract but I doubt anyone will take him. The casual fan will look at his boxscore tonight and think he did well when in fact he's this team's poison. I've said it time in and time again, the signing of Luol Deng over Ben Gordon will ruin this team's future and the more and more Luol chokes in 2nd halves of games, the more I look right. On the topic of terrible 2nd half play, our other clutch player Kirk Hinrich went 0-5 in the 2nd half. As I said earlier today, find a way to get rid of him at all costs!

Derrick Rose was fantastic tonight scoring 30 points on 10-22 shooting while dishing out 8 assists. Rose scored about 22 points in the 2nd half which is about half of the total team points. Joakim Noah is clearly hurt out there and I'd consider putting him on the bench for the two months to get his foot healed because he clearly isn't the same player out there and it's showing by his performance on the court these last few games.

That's about all I can say. We'll lose to the Hawks on Friday and to Miami on a back to back on Saturday at home. Gar better be working the phones up until the trade deadline to find trades because this team is not constructed well at all.

Derrick Rose with a spectacular move:

Clipped!

It looked like it was time to finally get excited about the Chicago Bulls again after their record breaking road trip which included 5 straight road wins against winning teams (the first team in the NBA to accomplish that). But it all came crashing down last night as this was one of the worst displays of basketball that I've ever seen out of the Chicago Bulls. You can't pick out one player that had a good game. Luol Deng had an excellent first quarter but looked like a completely different player after. Derrick Rose started off the game shooting 2-12 before finishing the 3rd quarter strong. Kirk Hinrich is known for overdribbling but last night was the most I've ever seen him overdribble. Joakim Noah looked hurt out there only grabbing 6 rebounds and scoring 8 points. Brad Miller came off the bench to shoot 1-7 and only scored 3 points in 23 minutes. The Bulls combined for 19 turnovers which is completely unacceptable at home. This game almost felt like that disaster on December 8th against the New Jersey Nets where it felt like the Bulls were just getting dominated the whole game although they only lost that one by 2.

It's just one game but the Bulls still have plenty of glaring holes that they need to fix to ensure a playoff birth. As Derrick Rose goes, the Bulls go and last night proved this. Derrick had one of the worst games of his season last night and the Bulls suffered because of it. There are rumors that Ray Allen might be available in Boston. The Bulls need to get on the phone and offer up John Salmons and Kirk Hinrich in a deal for Allen. Not only does Allen fit with Derrick Rose like a glove and he has a big expiring contract but it will shed the Bulls of Hinrich's long-term contract and will get rid of the threat of John Salmons opting-in this off-season. If they can't grab Allen, I think the Bulls still need to find someone to take Hinrich off our hands. I know the Bulls have a nice record with Hinrich in the starting line-up and I know Hinrich is a nice player but he is not essential to our future and we need to find a way to get max cap space for a 2010 free agent. For as much praise as Kirk gets about his defense, he sure did get absolutely torched by Eric Gordon last night. It felt like Eric Gordon was not even guarded last night as he hit about 4 wide open three-pointers.

The Bulls have a quick turnaround tonight as they take on the Philadelphia 76ers in Philadelphia. The Bulls did get some good news today as Allen Iverson will not play tonight because he is caring for his sick child. The thought of a back-to-back is not good for this Bulls team that has 3 banged-up big men in Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, and Brad Miller so I don't see the Bulls winning this one although they've proven to be a tough team to predict so far this season so who knows. This is why last night's game was so important because now it looks like the Bulls may go on a a losing streak with Philly tonight, at Atlanta on Friday, and home against the Heat on Saturday. The finish up the first half with a game in Indianapolis and a game at home against Orlando.

Prediction for tonight's game:

Bulls 93

76ers 101

I'll leave you with this. Taj Gibson crosses over Chris Kaman and then posterizises him. Are you rooting for the Cinderella Golden State Warriors (George Mason) or are you rooting for the local guys on the Utah Jazz (Illinois). Dee Brown and Deron Williams former Illini stars are real raising some eyebrows this postseason and some are even saying Williams may be one of the best guards in the NBA in a few years. Personally I could care less who wins this series. Whoever wins I and the rest of the world will root for in the Western Conference Finals. Most people think the winner of the Suns/Spurs series will go on to win it all but I would watch out for these too teams.

For the Bulls it is make history or we're history. A loss means we go fishing. A win means we stay alive one more night. A win would bring it back to Detroit for game 5 and a win there would bring it back to Chicago where we may have a chance.
Let's play this one game at a time and see where we go. Possibly according to Ben Wallace we still have a chance in this series and we will not give up.

Something that will make us feel better?

You got it another soon-to-be classic Youtube video and Bull Horns is one of the first sites to give it to you. I guess I won't have anything better to do...

I watched at a bar tonight so it was tough to get a full gauge of the collapse, but if anything the 2nd half reaffirms what the first two blowouts told us: this team is far far away from contention.

There is no implied destiny involved with these losses. The NBA doesn't work where you lose in the first round a couple years, then the second round a year, and eventually you get to the Finals. It worked that way 20 years ago because they had Michael Jordan. It doesn't work that way for every young team, and the history of the league is littered with abandoned young squads that once had the promise but never made it. The whole situation needs to be re-evaluated, not just because they've lost, but how every time Detroit wanted to put them away they simply did, making this talent gap seem pretty vast. If it takes minor tweaks (plus internal development) or a more thorough overhaul is up to Pax, but we can feel reassured to know that from what he's told the media Pax himself isn't satisfied with this cute fun little team he's assembled.

In comparison to the roster, I don't think the coach is as much of the problem, but for tonight Skiles wasn't part of the solution either. After getting contributions from Tyrus and Thabo in the first half, they were completely benched in the second. Thankfully our man Duh got a DNP tonight, but even with the starters in the game for most of the second half Skiles bizarrely didn't make any substitutions until the lead was slipping away, and only then it was Nocioni (And if this series hasn't proved the need for Noc to go, I don't know what does) who came in after Tyrus was the first big off the bench in the first half. In a series where you're out-manned it takes some risks to try and get an edge, and I think everybody was willing to accept the risk of playing rookies whereas Skiles was hoping just to stick with his guys until the bitter end. It was a play-not-to-lose strategy that can't be used in a game that was firmly in control. They had to make it a blowout in the third so the Pistons would pack it in for the night. Once they were let back into the game it was already lost, because they simply use their possessions better.

But a bigger problem than the frontcourt rotation is their supposed star perimeter players, of whom you can't think leads to a championship after such an abysmal stretch in that half. The problem with 'ball-movement' offense is that it gives the ball opportunity to find the other team. It'd be nice for a few possessions to find one player to give the ball to and just let him create, as in the boring yet effective isolation NBA basketball. I had thought Gordon was the type to be that guy but he's been extremely disappointing all series, and like the rest of the team he had a great first half only to fall back towards mediocrity after that. Perhaps a team better than mediocre can beat most of the teams in the league. But it's not good enough to beat a team playing at an elite level, and while there's incremental success this season it does not imply that the Bulls ever get to that same pinnacle.

Bulls/Pistons Game 3

Game 3 is a very important game considering the fact no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in the NBA playoffs. Hopefully returning home will do the trick and will tie this series up 2-2 going back to Detroit. One loss may be the dagger on this wonderful season. We got beat down by the Pistons on Monday night. This will be an odd late game for us because the game is going to start at 8:00 PM for some odd reason. Not sure why we can't start the game at 7:00 or 7:30 because ESPN has a hour of NBA Shootaround before the game. Nevertheless the later the better since most people we be home at this time. The game will also be seen on Comcast SportsNet so you get an extra dose of Stacey King. "Go ahead and roll it. Freeze It!. Stop It!. We got 69 points tonight and only 12 points in the 4th quarter. We came out with absolutely no energy at all and basically embarrassed ourselves. It proves we are not a good team coming out after a week long break. Hopefully we will come out Monday night ready to fight in game 2 which will be a very important game. A win gives us momentum...a loss basically puts the icing on our season cake.

Next Up:
Monday Night
Detroit Michigan
Time: 7:00 PM
Network: TNT

Round 2 Game 1 Pistons/Bulls

Bulls/Pistons
Palace at Auburn Hills
Detroit, Michigan
Time: 7:00 (TBD)
Network: TNT
Date: Saturday

Our first second round appearance in 9 years and it is sweet finally getting back. If we lose this game, the Heat will have a lot of momentum going into game 4 and may tie this series up so this is a very important game. Since the Heat are home, I expect them to get much more calls then they did in Chicago and if they don't expect them to go crazy and expect some ejections like last year when Haslem got ejected and suspened in game 1 for throwing his mouthpiece at Jerry Crawford or when James Posey got ejected in game 3 for shoving Kirk Hinrich and later Walker lost his cool.

I expect to see the same lineups nothing changed.
Go Bulls!

Boom...Here Comes The Boom

Yes this had to be the best Bulls game I have seen this year. The crowd was rowdy with the "Posey Sucks" chants and the "Beat the Heat" chant and our team played well. Ben Gordon was locked in tonight as was Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuol Deng. Nocioni had 7 points in 20 seconds and Kirk Hinrich somewhat stayed out of foul trouble. Best of all, the fans were sent him with big juicy Big Macs courtesy of McDonalds. Eddy Curry is going to get his as I speak. Overall I like our chances to sweep this series but it will be hard in Miami because the refs will make a difference in Miami. GO BULLS!

Next Up: Friday 6:30 ESPN at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.
The fans are all gonna be wearing white once again.

Play Of The Game:

Hinrich Fined $25,000 For Throwing Mouthpiece

Hinrich was fined $25,000 for throwing his mouthguard.
My question....Why haven't any of the whining Heat gotten fines yet?
Another question....Since when does throwing a plastic mouthguard worth $25,000?
Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2007/news/story?id=2846885

Bulls/Heat Game 2: 1st Round

When? It is the home arena for the Boston Bruins, an NHL team, and the Boston Celtics, an NBA team. It is site of the annual Beanpot, and hosts the annual Hockey East Championships. The arena has also hosted many major national sporting events including the 1999 and 2003 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds and the 2006 Women's Final Four. In addition, the facility has hosted the 2001 US Figure Skating Championships, the 1996 and 2000 US Gymnastics Trials, the 2004 and 1998 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship (aka the Frozen Four), the 1996 NHL All-Star Game, and the World Wrestling Federation's WrestleMania XIV in 1998. It has also hosted the 2000 King Of The Ring, 2003 Royal Rumble and 2006 SummerSlam. Like most sports arenas, it also hosts other events, such as concerts, shows, conventions, graduations, seminars, ice shows, circuses, and most notably the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

TD Banknorth Garden is one of three NBA arenas (Target Center in Minneapolis (home of the Minnesota Timberwolves) and Amway Arena in Orlando (home of the Orlando Magic) with parquet floors. The Celtics are best known for the tradition of the parquet floor, originally built after World War II because of cost and the scarcity of lumber in that time. However, a traditional floor was used in the 2006 NCAA Women's Final Four.

Credits:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TD_Banknorth_Garden

Bulls/Wizards Open Thread

Today the Chicago Bulls are playing an important game vs the Wizards. If Oden declares this draft just gets deeper.

Bulls Big Board:
1. Oden-Obvious pick if we get #1 which probably will not happen.
2. Durant- Would bring finally a low post presence to this organization. He looks a lot like Dirk in my opinion as he can hit shots from the 3 point line and be a great player down low.
3. Brendan Wright- I don't know if he fits in with this team but he is going to be a star.
4. Hibbert- Another low post presence. Could be a dominant player.
5. Yi Jialian- He could be a great player in this league and it will give the Bulls some international attention again.
6. Spencer Hawes- I think Hawes is going to be our pick because the top 4 above should be picked before ours but we have to wait for the lottery to see.
7. Noah- Noah is a winner and that is what Paxson likes. He could be a great player but he could also be a big bust.

Bobcats @ Bulls Home Finale Open Thread

Chicago Bulls
Guard 12 Kirk Hinrich 6-3 | 190
Guard 7 Ben Gordon 6-3 | 200
Forward 9 Luol Deng 6-9 | 220
Forward 42 P.J. Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Noc, Ben Wallace, Tyrus Thomas, and Chris Duhon.

Home Opener Vs Kings

December 27 Vs Heat (Posey Game)

Home Win VS Pistons in January

January 25 upset of the Mavericks

Redd Vs Gordon/Bulls Comeback in Milwaukee http://youtube.com/watch?v=hkrc9ED8U14

To top this all off I am going to game 5 in the first round and this will be my first NBA playoff game ever.

We have seen the ups and downs of a team this year. From the beginning of the year when people were complaining about Skiles starting Duhon over Gordon to the Tyrus Thomas show. This kid is the real deal.

Normally I am a Cubs fan all year round and do not watch the Bulls all too much but this team is so fun to watch and I think we could go far and even the future looks bright for us.

We are currently hold the 8th spot in the lottery thanks to those Big Mac hatin' Knicks so we should add another star on this team for next year making us more dangerous.

Currently we need to watch our 2nd spot as the Nets are playing the Cavs right now. If the Cavs lose and we win tomorrow and clinch the 2nd seed in like 2 games we should think about tanking against the Nets in our season finale so we can play the injury depleted Wizards in the first round.

Whatever happens this year this team was fun to watch and I had a great time.

Welcome to BullHorns!

This blog will be dedicated to the Chicago Bulls.
